Meet the Gran Canaria Locals No 4: Kelly Marlow

September 4, 2017

Is a move to Gran Canaria on the cards? In the fourth of our popular series, we meet another guiri who has gone native on the island. Our latest interviewee’s Kelly Marlow.

1. ¡Hola, Kelly! Where are you based on Gran Canaria and what attracted you to this particular area?

I live in the south of the island, in Los Caideros. As in between Patalavaca and Puerto Rico, right behind the Anfi del Mar timeshare development. I chose to settle here because it enjoys probably the best weather on the planet and all the places I play are a mere kilometre away.

2. What tips would you give people relocating to the island?

Have a job, a place to live, and a plan.

3. If you were to liken Gran Canaria to an ice cream, which one would you compare it to and why?

Pistachio because the island’s unique or maybe a Rainbow Sherbet because of all the diverse people and climate zones.

4. What are some of your favourite island hobbies?

My hobbies include riding my scooter around the island. I also enjoy walking, going to the beach, and drinking wine.

5. Finally, Kelly, what do you do workwise on Gran Canaria?

Whilst I was born and raised in LA, I have also lived in Sweden and Norway. These days, I am seen and also heard by thousands of people every week doing my show “KELLY MARLOW ROCKS” where I try to bring a special energy and power to the greatest classic rock music ever made. Covering such legends as AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Kings Of Leon, The Eagles, Prince, and many more. The crowds have had a overwhelming positive reaction to each performance. I have a deep respect for the artists and try to maintain the integrity of the original recordings, adding a little extra edge. I host a weekly radio show on KISS FM Canaries Sunday nights at 19:00 to 21:00. Listen on 99.4 or 102.5 FM in Gran Canaria, Spain, and worldwide online.
