Think of walking on Gran Canaria and you’re probably imagining the feel of sand between your toes. But the interior of the island is home to many hiking trails. Which explains the appeal of Gran Canaria Walking Festival 2016.
Gran Canaria Walking Festival 2016 is the sixth edition of the popular GC trekking-terrain event. We were lucky enough to be invited by Gran Canaria Natural & Active to last year’s festival. And feel immensely honoured to have been the only blog covering the island to have been invited to the opening.

2. Gran Canaria Walking Festival 2016: where
This year’s festival kicked off in Teror. At the historical Finca de Osorio estate. Before ending at El Borbullon where Aguas de Teror laid on some refreshments in the form of, well, water, along with cheese, wine, and nibbles galore courtesy of local restaurant El Encuentro.
Gran Canaria Natural & Active work closely with their holiday homes and hotels to provide a memorable end to the walks. After Teror, the routes take in the likes of Fataga, Ingenio, Santa Lucía, Firgas, and the Cruz de Tejeda. So, it really is a great way to get around the island.
